Charming, gentle, evocative...
Charming and gentle independent film, with evocative cinematography, set partially in Venice, CA, features a washed-up boxer (Don Gordon) who gets saddled with a precocious orphan (Carol Anne Seflinger, who had her 15 minutes of TV fame in Sid & Marty Krofft's Saturday-Morning fantasy WONDERBUG). The unlikely couple travel the land together, and happy girl teaches gloomy boxer to see the world through a red lollipop cover, where everything becomes new and beautiful (and somewhat psychedelic). When originally released, the film had pink-tinted sequences whenever the bittersweet Felicity looked through her lollipop cover. Sally Kellerman has a brief pre- fame role as a down-and-out singer. There was a soundtrack album of the enchanting Ruby Raksin score. I still have vivid memories of this award-winning film from one viewing over thirty years ago; I sure hope it turns up again one day.
