When Chaurasia wins a lottery, he quits, and Verma hires a woman by the name of Nandini in his place. He soon finds out that there is a mystery behind Nandini and her presence in his house, apart from the fact that she is mentally imbalanced. When he probes further, he finds that she is claiming to be his illegitimate daughter. He does accept her and decides to let her live there, but his wife, his son, his sister, his son-in-law, and daughter have other plans - for they have hired notorious hit-man Samar Khan to abduct and kill Nandini at any cost. Is Nandini really Verma's daughter? Why would the Verma family want her dead?

Review :
Great movie....great performances
'Muskuraahat' was one of the most under rated movies of its times. As a teenager I loved the comic approach this movie took. The story basically takes place in Ooty where Jay Mehta and Annu Kapoor are guides for visiting tourists. Amrish Puri plays a strict retired army man who lives his life on his own terms. Revathi plays a mentally challenged girl who ends up in these people's lives. The movie has me laughing even today due to the witty lines and extremely competent performances by the unknown Jay Mehta and of course, the immensely talented Annu Kapoor. Revathi once again proves that she is a fine performer with her (possibly first) Hindi performance. Amrish Puri is super cool as ever. The movie also had some very soulful numbers including "Gun gun karta aaya bhanwra..." Its a shame this movie did not do well at the box office, but its a perfect movie for a lazy afternoon when all you want to do is be in bed and laugh your head off.
I give it a cool 7 out of 10 for the laughters.
