Dombivli Fast captures India's "functioning anarchy" on celluloid. Madhav Apte, the protagonist is a middle class citizen who is struggling to make the ends meet. We see a slow mental breakdown of this individual as he decides to counter the injustices, first by simple questioning and later, as he loses the mental balance, through violence. As India gears towards becoming a developed nation, it still battles with the age-old feudal mindset. The corruption and inflation make it difficult for a middle class person to make living with dignity. It is not just the judiciary or the corporate greed that is the question here, but a lack of basic amenities such as potable water, that really get to the protaganist. The film ends on a pessimistic note which in a way does reflect the reality. The pace of the film develops at a natural pace and gains momentum as it progresses.

Review :

Exaggerated but effective...

Madhav Apte the main character, is a straightforward person. Lives in Dombivili, a part of the busiest city in the India, Mumbai. His routine life is driven by the second's hand of his watch. He has a wife and two kids. Madhav has a set of ideals which he never compromises on. He expects others to be idealistic like him, as he is assured that everyone else's behavior lacks moral foundation. Madhav is frustrated of the ignorance of moral values of the people around him. One morning while quarreling, his wife challenges him to not just worry about the wrong things around him, but to to change them. Madhav then, in a series of incidents, resorts to technically illegal (though moral) means to sort the problems he faces. The Mumbai City cops are also after him during these series of incidents. Whether Madhav succeeds in his cause or not is worth watching. All characters have given 100% to their role-play.
