Review :
My Big Fat Greek Identity Crisis
"The Cross" is a compelling film about a lawyer who finds his profession tearing him further and further from both his family and the spiritual ideals of his youth. The production is handsomely mounted, beautifully photographed and the acting is completely convincing throughout. The film imaginatively mixes the past and the present and the real and the surreal as the personal injury lawyer's life falls apart after the death of his brother. The Greek heritage of the leading characters, and their valued traditions, give the film a strong and fascinating sense of place. My complaints are few. The film feels a little long and the relationships of some of the colorful secondary characters to the lead characters are somewhat ill-defined. However, those are minor quibbles balanced against the whole. This film is definitely worth checking out.
