Review :

You will soar along too

In the 80s there was a good American film called THE BOY WHO COULD FLY and it was a very entertaining multiplex family film. PIRRET from Sweden is quite simply exquisite and takes the flying child possibilities so far beyond anything previously enjoyed. Breathtaking photography and a very simple and enchanting story PIRRET - which means Butterfly - has the most astonishing and beautiful child Alice Nilsson as Sara, a bright 6 year old who discovers she can fly. A chance flight at school and a moment caught by a doctor on his camera sees her sent for tests at a children's clinic. Some forced comedy from two slightly amusing doctors ensues but it never for one minute overshadows the amazing and heartfelt performance of Alice. Her mother is played by the incredibly beautiful Frida Hallgren recently seen in SA SOM I HIMMELEN or AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. PIRRET is a landmark in children's films. I was completely in awe of both the performance and beauty of Alice as Sara and emotionally engaged beyond my expectations by the well structured intelligent storyline. I encourage families across the planet to discover this almost perfect film.
