Enjoyable time with the Brothers Bloom
I really liked the visual style of this movie and how it doesn't take itself seriously in a good way. It's a bright con film about two brothers that are good at what they do since a very young age, but the younger brother wants out. So his older brother convinces him to join him for one last con, with his assistant Bang Bang which fits her quite accurately. This isn't a serious or one of those dark movies about a con, so in another words it will leave a smile on your face. Plus I sort of cared what happens to the characters since they are mostly likable and has charisma, and found the scenario especially the visual style of this movie to be intriguing. It has a bit of the bromance, but mostly it's a romantic comedy with smugglers and should not be taken seriously in a good way of course. This movie really does have heart and a sense of adventure. Now I enjoyed Rian Johnson's past film "Brick" and I enjoyed this one as well, not as cool as "Brick" is, but still enjoyable. Especially how the main con, needs some fake cons to go with it along with it's witty plot. It isn't a waste of time or money to see this film. Is this movie so important?
I really don't know. For italian movie critics for sure, because the most of them has scream out loud to the "absolute masterpiece". I enjoy filmmakers that try so hard to give to their creatures an important aura but i really don't know if this movie is so essential as the most people say. There is for sure a strong mark on it by the director Ermanno Olmi and for sure there are particular locations and situations that are interesting to watch but the characters (in my opinion) aren't enough developed to create a real participation in the audience. For the most part of the movie i didn't care so much if someone got killed or won a battle and i don't think this is a good sign. This movie is an exercise in style that will not leave this so important mark as most italian (rabbits) critics have said.

One of my favorite imperfect films.
I know it's stupid to believe that a futuristic society is dumb enough to believe that the mere existence paintings, poems and sculptures can somehow lead to WW4.
I know there's a statue as well as stylish architecture in the headquarters of the people who ban artwork.
I know it's stupid to assume that a culture based on taking a drug every morning is not a very secure or feasible idea.
I know it makes no sense for a culture with no emotions to still be able to fall in love, choose a spouse and desire sex to create children.
I know half the people that Preston attacks are just standing there doing nothing while they wait to get their ass kicked.
I know the sets look cheap.
I know it's stupid that the "police" seem to die because their helmet glass breaks, when they'd probably be smart enough to have shatter-proof, if not bullet-proof plexiglass in the first place.
I know there's no reason random citizens would sit in a square to watch a guy on a big screen giving a speech, re-enforcing what the characters already know.
I know it paints a stupid picture of characters with emotion as looking like long-haired Gothic slobs who do nothing but sit in rooms with paintings and LP records and poetry books all day.
I know the emotionless characters express emotions and crack facial expressions when they're probably not supposed to.
I know Gun-Fu doesn't make much sense as to its practicality.
I know this film is an inspired rip-off of "Fahrenheit 451", "1984", "THX-1138", "Brazil", and "Blade Runner".
................But I love it.
Although it's a mish mash of every "man vs. futuristic oppressive society" film ever made, it manages to pull it off as good as some of its inspirations.
The film's story and message is clear.
The action is fresh, original, readable and gets the adrenaline flowing.
The atmosphere is clearly defined.
The production design is inspired.
Christian Bale and Emily Watson are superb.
The ending is satisfying.

More than just a romantic comedy
This film is about an American girl who uses a Ramen shop as her haven after being dumped by her boyfriend. There, she experiences and learns more than she unexpected to.
"The Ramen Girl" is actually enjoyable to watch. I particularly like the way that it treats Japanese culture with respect. This can be seen by not Americanising the Japanese characters, using plenty of Japanese language in the film and also using actors who actually speaks fluent Japanese. Hearing a Japanese ramen chef explaining the spirit of ramen is quite inspirational, as one could see so much dedication and respect for something seemingly insignificant. "The Ramen Girl" is more than just a romantic comedy or a "Lost in Translation" rip off. It is a good way to introduce Japanese culture, values and traditions to other cultures. I enjoyed "The Ramen Girl" a lot, and I hope it reaches a wider audience.

I wanted to see this film since 2001, when I read it was nominated to the Goya (Spanish Oscar) as best Spanish film of the year. Generally speaking, I think the film delivers and it has two interesting subplots. A great detail is that even though it takes place at a somber area of Madrid, it never makes you feel bad or depressed; they've made good use of the cameras and the lights; the sawing area is well conceived. In general, the direction was outstanding. Unfortunately the story shows some weaknesses, some people are overexposed without being important and some others would need a couple of extra screen minutes/seconds to be more functional. It was a shame the main plot itself ends up being kind of poor and not really original when you recall it... I gave it a 7/10

Caught this gem at the Fort Lauderdale film fest.
I am a sucker for "indie" films, but recently I've noticed an influx of low-budget crap. As better camcorders get cheaper, everyone with a couple of grand in their pocket is suddenly calling himself a filmmaker. This spate of amateurish horse-pucky had left me disillusioned. Then along came Body/Antibody. A truly indie film, with the kind of quirky, un-Hollywood story that typified everything I had previously grown to love about self produced films. Granted, this is not for everyone. If you have a "World's Greatest Grandma" bumper sticker, you may want to skip this one. But if you, like me, can enjoy a roller coaster ride of a story that goes from goofy romance to creepy thriller with more twists than a pretzel, don't miss this one.
I should also mention that the performances of the three main characters were absolutely believable and fun. Their skill added a plausibility to the story that was essential.
If you are lucky enough to have this film screen in your town, go see it, you won't be disappointed. This is a truly unique story. An independent film worthy of that title.

Not just the night, I also witnessed a new low in film history
Spoiler Some years ago my sister gave me a video cassette from the store she was working at and asked me to watch it cause someone said it'd be damaged. So I _had_ to watch the whole film entirely, which I still regret. Not the video cassette was the problem, it was the film. The script and the acting were awful.
The film was about a young girl who was abused by some guys who were set free. After the trial the girl committed suicide and her boyfriend killed one of the guys. At the end you hear him shouting "I had to do it, mother." Why, so I'm wondering today, didn't I smash the cassette and shouted "I had to do it, sister?" It hadn't been a loss.

Wow, Beautiful.
Boy, am I glad I was able to see this movie.
The movie is about a young gay artist haunted by a tragedy during high-school. I won't go very deep about the story, but basically he fell in love with another boy during high-school and it didn't go very well. And believe me, not by the most common reasons. The story is really beautiful. Not having many characters, you get to know the 2 main characters very well and on the "crucial" moments it really gets into your heart. Except for Carter's coach, this movie has fabulous, gorgeous, amazing acting. You see the expression of anger in Darrien's face, when's angry, the heart-felt tears, when he cries, and the sensitive smile when his with either his mother, his best-friend and of course, Carter.
Plot: 8/10 - The reason why they met (and why carter lives with Darrien for a few month) isn't very «believable» but a beautiful romance develops as the movie goes on and grows on you.
Acting: 9.5/10 - Excellent actors. Well done.
Flaws: You never get to understand what are Darrien's mother and carter's father to each other. The movie is not very clear in terms of time. It seems as if only a few days have passed during the whole movie, but almost one year passed. (I think)
Personal Desire: I wish they could have developed a little more the relationship between Darrien and his mother. They could have made some touching scenes, since they were both great actors.
I'm glad it's not underrated, but having only 17 votes.... I suppose... not many people have seen it? Well, those people don't know what they're missing.
